Enrolling at The Summit Academy

CURRENT SUMMIT FAMILIES: Click HERE to re-enroll your student(s) starting DECEMBER 10th through JANUARY 15th!

Welcome to The Summit Academy!

We look forward to meeting you and helping you decide if Summit is a good fit for your child.  The Summit Academy is a program affiliated with Jefferson Academy Charter School, a Jeffco charter school located in the Westminster/Broomfield area. Like all Jefferson Academy schools, The Summit Academy is a Choice Enrollment program.

Most Summit students are homeschooled and attend classes one day per week to complement their homeschool program. College-ready high school students may participate in Concurrent Enrollment, taking classes at the local community college and earning both high school and college credit.  Summit students who take college classes may choose to participate in our full-time program, incorporating Summit and college classes to satisfy graduation requirements and earn a Jeffco high school diploma.  Summit students in grades 11-12 may also participate in Warren Tech. Click on the links at the bottom of the page for more information about Concurrent Enrollment and Warren Tech.

Students are accepted on a space-available basis.

Summit has a part-time, home-based option for all ages, and a

and a optional full-time status for its students in grades 9-12.

Parents must adhere to certain legal practices, therefore,

all parents are REQUIRED to attend a New Family Informational Meeting

before enrollment at The Summit Academy is accepted.

This REQUIRED meeting lasts about an hour.

In case of inclement weather, please check back here for meeting updates.

RE-SIGN WINDOW - 1ST ROUND CHOICE ENROLLMENT WINDOW:  December 10, 2019 - January 15, 2020

Parents or guardians of current Summit students MUST re-enroll their student during the 1st ROUND of CHOICE ENROLLMENT.  If current students are NOT re-enrolled during this time period, these students will be dropped and will have to participate in choice enrollment should they wish to return to Summit for the next school year.

The Summit Academy will remind parents, but it is not responsible for parents re-enrolling their students during the specified time-frame, or its requirements.

Summit Student Priority Placement is as follows (per J.A. Board Policy):

1. Current Summit students re-enroll during First Round Choice Enrollment (December 10 to January 15.)

2. Siblings (lottery if necessary)

Sibling priority will be given to a prospective student if they have a currently enrolled sibling at Summit who intends to return the following school year. Any student who receives an enrollment spot because of sibling priority will have their spot rescinded should the currently enrolled “sibling” withdraw or transfer prior to the start of the following school year.

3. Grandfathered wait list (if any) and qualifying siblings of students admitted during this process. If you do not re-enroll your child they will be removed from the list.

4. Choice enrollment, first round in-county (lottery) and qualifying siblings of students admitted during this process.

5. Choice enrollment, first round out-of-county (lottery) and qualifying siblings of students admitted during this process.

6. Choice enrollment, second round in-county (first come, first served) and qualifying siblings of students added to the wait lists during this process.

7. Choice enrollment, second round out-of-county (first come, first served) and qualifying siblings of students added to the wait lists during this process.

Additional Enrollment information:

  • Transportation is not provided for students at Summit.

  • A change of schools may affect athletic eligibility, please contact the Athletic Director with questions.

  • Summit is a home-school program and therefore, does NOT provide IEP or 504 services.  A student's current IEP or 504 will be evaluated to determine proper placement.
