About Concurrent Enrollment in Colorado and at Summit 

The Summit Academy is proud to offer our students the opportunity to participate in Concurrent Enrollment (CE). CE programs provide high school students with the opportunity to enroll in post-secondary courses and earn credit at no cost to them for tuition. Colorado data show that students in concurrent enrollment programs are more likely to enroll in post-secondary education, have higher post-secondary grade point averages and retention rates, and have a decreased need for remediation. In May 2009, the Colorado State Legislature passed the Concurrent Enrollment Programs Act. The Act created the Concurrent Enrollment program, defined as the simultaneous enrollment of a qualified student in a local education provider and in one or more post-secondary courses, including academic or career and technical education courses, at an institution of higher education. 

Summit students in grades 9-12 can participate in Concurrent Enrollment. Classes may be taken at the local community college. Interested students must be enrolled as a Summit student even if they do not want to take classes at Summit.  Enrollment procedures begin in December and/or January for the following year (fall semester) college courses. Students enrolled in Summit may choose to participate as a full or part time student.
