2020 Colorado Preserve America Youth Summit from June 16-19th, is a FREE program of Conservation Legacy, providing engaging on-site interactive learning experiences for students, teachers, and service leaders at historic places. The Summits engage in local history, historic preservation, cultural conservation, and heritage tourism issues to foster leadership and strengthen community efforts. Teen Citizens Police Academy: Are you interested in learning about the Westminster Police Department and the duties of a police officer? The Teen Academy offers an exciting week of direct contact with police instructors through lectures, hands-on experience and demonstrations. Topics include; SWAT, K-9, Criminal Law, Police Pursuits, Arrest Control, Investigations, and Patrol Procedures. Teens between 15-18 who live in the City of Westminster or attend high school in Westminster are encouraged to apply! Classes will be held for one week this summer (details to come). Teens must have a valid Colorado permit or driver’s license. Students need to have a GPA of 2.5 or higher and school attendance will be reviewed. Space is limited and applications will be accepted soon! (Check back for details and a link to their application.)
