School News

Thank you for your continued support as we embark on this new school year. We wanted to take a moment to explain how we interpret the Beginning of Year MAP and DIBELS data for Reading and Math. These were the tests taken during our Assessment Days.

The MAP (Measures of Academic Progress is an adaptive test that adjusts to the responses given by your child) data helps us understand your child's current skills in both Reading and Math. This assessment identifies areas where they excel and areas that may need additional support, allowing us to tailor our instruction accordingly.

For DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills), we focus on critical early reading skills. The data provides insight into your child’s phonemic awareness, fluency, and comprehension. This information is essential for developing effective reading strategies.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need further clarification. Your partnership is invaluable to us. Beginning Of the Year assessment results will be printed and put in Monday folders on Monday Sept 22nd.

Drop off - Students may not be dropped off before 7:45 a.m. This is for the safety of our students. There is no supervision.  Please contact our JagCare if you need before school care. We will begin contacting families that are not adhering to this policy.

Pick up - Students should exit their classroom when their Drive Line number comes up in the classroom. Older siblings do not walk to their younger sibling’s classroom at dismissal. As a reminder, when in the outside lane, please wait for a staff member to help open doors and walk your student to your car when in traffic.  Also, for the safety of all, do not bring animals on campus.

Picture Day - Tuesday, September 16 - Picture packets will be in students’ folders next week. All students will have their picture taken. Class pictures are also taken on this day. Make up day for individual pictures will be on Wednesday, October 29.

FAMILY AND COMMUNITY CONNECTION SURVEY - Please take a moment to complete this year’s Family and Community Connection Survey: Family and Community Connection Survey. This quick survey helps us learn more about your interests, availability for volunteer opportunities, family-owned businesses, and any potential needs. Our Community Engagement Specialist, Tiffany Flores, will follow up if needed and help connect you with resources or opportunities based on your responses.

Calendar

  • Tuesday, September 16 - Picture Day

  • Tuesday, September 16 - JA Board meeting at Summit Westminster at 6:00 p.m. and via Zoom
