One of the best parts of working in a school is seeing the constant growth of our students. It's a part of our everyday life here at Secondary, and it is beyond rewarding. While we see this happen all across our school, there's one story that we're very excited to share with our community.
Meet Jayden Hughes...
When Jayden was a freshman, he was a bit shy and quiet. Like many of our students, he was just trying to find his way while maintaining straight A's. In the spring semester, Jayden took Mrs. Garcia's "Foundations of Design and Media" class and found a passion for art. As he delved deeper into art and drama, the once shy student wasn't so shy anymore.
Throughout his sophomore year, Jayden put his focus on improving his arts. With a strong role in "The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical", learning the technical side of theater production management, and diving into painting and graphic design, Jayden set himself up for a big junior year.
As a junior, Jayden has truly come into his own. The year has delivered two big roles on the stage ("SpongeBob The Musical" and "Legally Blonde”), the "Rising Artist" Fine Arts Award, and the "Spotlight" Drama Award.
To top it all off, Jayden was recently awarded 1st Place in the Congressional Arts Show for District 7! This is an outstanding honor for Jayden, and we couldn't be more proud of how far he has come. The piece titled "Agony" will be displayed in the Hall of Congress in Washington, D.C., for one year. It's quite an accomplishment and will be a long-lasting memory.
While Jayden has come a long way from his freshman year, we're excited to see what his senior year holds. If this year was any indication, we're looking forward to some amazing things.
Awesome job, Jayden!
